The ELTE University Library and Archives has developed a common search interface for ELTE secondary school libraries with the help of a grant. GIMIfind can be accessed directly from the web address or from the common catalogue of ELTE libraries.
Our series entitled “Mosaics from the heritage of ELTE” presents some of the key material cultural heritage of the Eötvös Loránd University. The object of the month is the logbook of Bárczi Gusztáv.
The periodical collection of the University Library is now accessible online. The collection includes approximately 207 000 volumes of 11 500 titles covering various subjects such as philosophy, theology, history, church and religious studies and law. The constantly expanding collection provides current scientific literature published in Hungarian and a selection of international journals.
István Ádám will give a concert at the ELTE University Library and Archives (1053 Budapest, Ferenciek tere 6.) on the 11th of November 2022 from 18.00.
In the community space, we will also offer on-site rental of chess sets from the 24th of October 2022. Chess can be requested at the rental desk with a valid library card. We wish you a pleasant time, fun and a good game!
The Autumn Book Fair will be open from the 24 th of October 2022 in the library lobby, where you can choose from hundreds of our free books, while stocks last, and bring in your surplus books. Everybody is welcome!
Between the 6th and the 8th of October 2022, the German Gesellschaft für Universitätssammlungen held its annual conference in Vienna. Archivist Dr. Krisztina Tóth and museologist Georgina Schlay participated in the conference on behalf of the ELTE University Library and Archives.

In the frame of the Autumn Festival of Museums, between the 3rd of October and the 13th of November 2022, we invite all science and book lovers to visit our exhibition entitled Janus Pannonius from Humanism to the Baroque - A Selection from the Collection of the University Library and Archives. Our guests can take part in interactive guided tours of the Eötvös exhibition, guitar concerts by Ádám Kovács, guided tours of the restoration workshop and library history. Our book presentations will give you an insight into the special treasures of our library. All visitors are welcome!
The old book collection of the Library of ELTE Trefort Ágoston High School, which contains 288 volumes, is a unique treasure of our nation. The books were processed, with the help of the ELTE University Library, so they became available in the electronic catalog of the school library.
In order to increase the efficiency of library services, according to Article 137/A of the Student
Requirements Regulation, effective from the 1 st of October 2022, the condition for taking endof-semester examinations and registering for the next semester is the payment of the library
overdue fee in the libraries of the University Library Service.
On the 17th of September 2022, as part of the Cultural Heritage Days, the University Library and Archives’ new exhibition was opened, presenting the most important documents and symbols of our university’s history.
We would like to inform our visitors that due to the ongoing storage cleaning work, some of our stock sections will be unavailable or only partially available in the coming weeks.
The library intended to draw attention to the protection of our cultural values and the preservation of our built heritage with our event organized in the University Library and Archives of Eötvös Loránd University within the framework of this year's Cultural Heritage Days.
