The ELTE EKL Savaria Library and Archives hosts the annual traveling meeting of the Hungarian Association of Higher Education Archives between April 28 and 30, 2026. The three-day professional conference focuses on current issues in higher education archives, facilitating the exchange of experiences, professional dialogue and strengthening cooperation.

On the Hungarian Poetry Day, the ELTE ULA Savaria Library and Archives presented Ágoston Szauer's poetry collection Mindenek bögét, which was based on a dialogue between the poet and the reader, in an intimate evening. The discussion was led by his son, Dániel Szauer, thus highlighting the author's personal and creative processes, while also providing insight into the background of the divine, transcendent poems in the volume. Readings and musical contributions brought the poems to life, and the event became a celebration of the encounter between generations and art forms.

To mark Hungarian Poetry Day, on April 8, 2026 (Wednesday) at 4:00 p.m., poet Ágoston Szauer, a teacher at ELTE’s Bolyai Training Institute in Szombathely, will present his latest collection of poems, titled Mindenek mögött (Behind Everything), in the event hall on the second floor of the ELTE ULA Savaria Library and Archives.

The launch of Florencia Horváth’s autobiographically inspired poetry collection "Hiátus" took place amid great interest on 10 March 2026 at the ELTE ULA Savaria Library and Archives. Student Viktória Málics spoke with the author about the collection’s intimate, lyrical world. Students Eszter Noémi Nagy and Kamilla Szabó contributed to the program with poetry readings. The event was organized by the Department of Hungarian Literary Studies at ELTE, with a special focus on promoting local literary talent and supporting their careers.

The ELTE EKL Savaria Library and Archives has been enriched with two new pictures. Professor László Hadrovics' painting complements the linguist's library legacy. A photographic reproduction of Ágoston Pável from 1911 has been placed in the memorial room of the poet, linguist and ethnographer. Both works are on display on the second floor of the library.

At the age of 72, Éva Farkas Szmrekovszkyné, a former prominent expert at the library of the college in Szombathely, passed away on 18 January 2026. Éva Szmrekovszkyné Farkas was a key figure in the library of the Szombathely College, who played a pioneering role in the introduction of modern information services and library education. Her dedication, professional standards and humanity supported the work of generations and made her a strong point of the library community. Her departure is a great loss, but her example and work will live on in the memory of her colleagues, students and the institution.

The Department of English Language and Literature at ELTE Berzsenyi Dániel Teacher Training Centre will host Irish Culture Day on April 24, celebrating Irish literature, music, film and cultural dialogue. Ragnar Almqvist, the Ambassador of Ireland to Hungary, will also participate in the event, and various programs will be offered to interested parties, such as an exhibition opening, a scholarship program presentation, a film screening and a live concert. The event will be held at the university library and various buildings.

The ELTE Savaria University Center paid tribute to the memory of Gábor Devecseri with a commemoration organized on the occasion of Hungarian Poetry Day and presented the first volume of the latest publication series of the Department of Literary Studies. The university recently received a material legacy as a gift from the poet's son, János Devecseri: a table and four chairs, which evoke the atmosphere of the creator's home. In the second part of the event, student Viktória Málics spoke with Ibolya Czetter and student András Szemerics, two of the authors of the book published by the department.

This event was particularly special as we celebrated both the 30th Vas County Library Day and the 70th anniversary of the Móra Ferenc Library. An interesting and topical presentation was given by Csaba Csuk, the head of the ELTE EKL Savaria Library and Archives, entitled „Artificial Intelligence from the User's Perspective: the impact of AI on our work and life”.
