Within the framework of the Night of Museums program series, calligrapher Dezső Buzogány will hold a workshop on the 24th of June 2023 between 15:00 and 24:00 in the hall of the ELTE University Library and Archives (1053 Budapest, Ferenciek tere 6.). Our guests are able to gain an insight into the art of calligraphy. All visitors are welcome!

On the occasion of the Night of Museums, on the 24th of June 2023 from 6.00 pm at the ELTE University Library and Archives in the Lobby (1053 Budapest, Ferenciek tere 6.), a string quartet consisting of members of the ELTE University Concert Orchestra will give a concert with Éva Dúlfalvy, concertmaster (violin), Csaba Nemes (violin), Mónika Mezei (viola) and Zsuzsanna Kéri (cello). All visitors are welcome!

On this year's Night of Museums, we will present the original edition of the Chronica Hungarorum in our library to mark the 550th anniversary of the printing of the Buda Chronicle. In the exhibition of books related to the volume, visitors also have the opportunity to gain an insight into some of the other special documents from our museum collection. All visitors are welcome!

According to our tradition, we will join the Night of Museums on the 24th of June 2023, opening our Buda Chronicle 550 chamber exhibition. From 3 p.m. in the afternoon until midnight, our library welcomes all visitors with craft activities, concerts, guided tours, restoration workshops and an exhibition of Chronica Hungarorum. Tickets are available at our library information desk. All visitors are welcome!

The Foundation for the University Library held this year's meeting of the Board of Trustees, where Dr. Péter Kiszl, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Kulcsár Szabó Ernőné Gombos Annamária, Director General of the ELTE University Library and Archives (ELTE ULA), Dr. László Szögi, retired Director General of ELTE ULA, Krisztián Szalay, Rector's Commissioner for Sports Affairs of ELTE, Márta Csikós, Head of Cabinet of ELTE ULA, and as new members Dr. Edit Madas, academician, professor, and Judit Osskó, certified architect, monument protection engineer, television editor-director, participated in the meeting.

Save a book, adopt it! Our volume presented in May is the coursebook of the Czech educator Jan Amos Komenský (in Latin: Johannes Comenius, 1592-1670), the so called „Orbis pictus”, which is one of the highlights of the book adoption program of the University Library Foundation.

The ELTE University Library and Archives and the European Documentation Centre (EDC) Szombathely have signed a cooperation agreement, according to which the Savaria University Library and Archives will provide library support to the EDC Szombathely, which is part of the ELTE Berzsenyi Dániel Teacher Training Centre.

The ELTE University Library and Archives offers extended opening hours for readers and students on weekdays and Saturdays between the 30th of May and the 1st of July 2023 until 22.00 hours, on a trial basis. Our training room will also be available, offering free computer access and learning opportunities.

Find out in our virtual exhibition, based on the chamber exposition entitled „Janus Pannonius from Humanism to the Baroque”, on display from September to November 2022.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, in 1773, Pope Clement XIII dissolved the Jesuit order, accelerating the process of the university's transfer to the state. Between 1635 and 1773, many distinguished Jesuits of great knowledge taught at our university, leaving a lasting mark on the history of the institution. In April our feature is on the founder of our university’s medal collection, Leopold Fischer.
