Save a book, adopt it! Our volume presented in June is the Articles of law of Transylvanian prince Gábor Bethlen dated 1627, which is one of the highlights of the book adoption program of the University Library Foundation.

According to our tradition, we will join the Night of Museums on the 24th of June 2023, opening our Buda Chronicle 550 chamber exhibition. From 3 p.m. in the afternoon until midnight, our library welcomes all visitors with craft activities, concerts, guided tours, restoration workshops and an exhibition of Chronica Hungarorum. Tickets are available at our library information desk. All visitors are welcome!

The Foundation for the University Library held this year's meeting of the Board of Trustees, where Dr. Péter Kiszl, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Kulcsár Szabó Ernőné Gombos Annamária, Director General of the ELTE University Library and Archives (ELTE ULA), Dr. László Szögi, retired Director General of ELTE ULA, Krisztián Szalay, Rector's Commissioner for Sports Affairs of ELTE, Márta Csikós, Head of Cabinet of ELTE ULA, and as new members Dr. Edit Madas, academician, professor, and Judit Osskó, certified architect, monument protection engineer, television editor-director, participated in the meeting.

As a team-building programme, the staff of the ELTE EKL Savaria Library and Archives participated in a joint archery event in the framework of the „Move, ELTE! – Workers' Sports Week 2023” programme.

The University Library and Archives, as the host organisation, has concluded a cooperation agreement with the Vasi Student Community Service (VDKSZ), based on the contract between the supporting institutions – the Municipality of Szombathely City with County Rights and Eötvös Loránd University – and implemented in the ELTE EKL Savaria Library and Archives.

To support the learning, teaching, and research activities of university citizens and library users, the use of library computers and self-service scanning will be free from May 30, 2023.

Save a book, adopt it! Our volume presented in May is the coursebook of the Czech educator Jan Amos Komenský (in Latin: Johannes Comenius, 1592-1670), the so called „Orbis pictus”, which is one of the highlights of the book adoption program of the University Library Foundation.

The Reading Hall will be closed between 12.00 and 16.00 on the 30th of May 2023 due to an MTVA-filming.

From the 30th of May 2023, ELTE University Library will open the ground-floor training room from the lobby to library users, offering free and gratis use of 10 library laptops.

The ELTE University Library and Archives and the European Documentation Centre (EDC) Szombathely have signed a cooperation agreement, according to which the Savaria University Library and Archives will provide library support to the EDC Szombathely, which is part of the ELTE Berzsenyi Dániel Teacher Training Centre.

The ELTE University Library and Archives offers extended opening hours for readers and students on weekdays and Saturdays between the 30th of May and the 1st of July 2023 until 22.00 hours, on a trial basis. Our training room will also be available, offering free computer access and learning opportunities.

With the support of the National Cultural Fund, between the 9th and the 11th of May 2023, a management training course was held for the library managers of the University Library Service and the managers and staff of the ELTE University Library and Archives.

We are pleased to announce that the Scopus Content Selection & Advisory Board (CSAB) has accepted the application of the journal „Lejana. Revista Crítica de Narrativa Breve” to the Scopus database. „Lejana” publishes scientific papers of literary criticism in Spanish and English of short fiction Spanish works. The journal is published since 2010 by its editor, the Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Humanities Department of Spanish Language and Literature. It is an 'MTMT Qualified Journal' from 2023.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, in 1773, Pope Clement XIII dissolved the Jesuit order, accelerating the process of the university's transfer to the state. Between 1635 and 1773, many distinguished Jesuits of great knowledge taught at our university, leaving a lasting mark on the history of the institution. In April our feature is on the founder of our university’s medal collection, Leopold Fischer.

The Council of the Leaders of Hungarian Archives (MLVT) organises its annual meeting between the 18th and 20th of May 2023 in Lakitelek. The main topic of the workshop on the 19th of May 2023 is the collection field activities of archives, with a presentation by the head of our archives, Krisztina Tóth, PhD, entitled „Collection field tasks and issues at the Eötvös Loránd University”.

Our series entitled “Mosaics from the heritage of ELTE” presents some of the key material cultural heritage of the Eötvös Loránd University. The object of the month is the Golden Eagle.
