Expert advice on library protection
To ensure the preventive and restorative protection of ELTE's library collections, the ELTE University Library and Archives provides expert advice by conducting on-site surveys of paper collections and their storage facilities. During the survey, we identify potential damaging environmental factors and recommend optimal storage and use conditions. In addition to preparing a conservation assessment and conservation plan, we assist in the management of damaged documents and in the selection of appropriate storage and disposal solutions for the long-term preservation of the collection.

Binding and paper industry work
The ELTE University Library and Archives offers a range of binding and stationery services for ELTE departments, including the production of conservation bindings (books, journals), presentation materials and boards, as well as mounting and cutting to size.
The service is provided by emailing the Head of the Public Services Department of the University Library at info@lib.elte.hu.
The terms and conditions of the work are agreed between the requesting department and the Head of Binding. Once agreed, the order is completed and finalised by filling in the bindery order form. The delivery of materials to the University Library is subject to prior appointment and the receipt of the documents is confirmed by the signatures of both parties. Upon return of the completed work, after a joint inspection, the order form is used to certify completion. After completion of the work, the ordering department initiates the frame handover on the basis of the signed order form.
Preparation of status descriptions
The ELTE University Library and Archives prepares detailed condition descriptions of documents of different ages and physical condition for ELTE departments on request. In addition to the basic identification data, the documentation with photographic illustrations includes a description of the use of materials and techniques, a detailed analysis of the physical condition, as well as traces of environmental impact.

Restoration
The ELTE University Library and Archives offers professional restoration services to ELTE departments, restoring documents of all ages and conditions. The service includes the restoration of damaged documents, the preparation of a condition report and a proposal for the application of appropriate protection measures for the long-term preservation of the documents.
