Architecture on the silver screen – Film screening as part of Cultural Heritage Day

Buildings are an integral part of our film culture. Let's take a moment to think about how many memorable film scenes are linked to memorable interior or exterior spaces.

Few people know that György Szomjas, winner of the Kossuth and Béla Balázs awards, originally studied architecture between 1960 and 1964 at the Faculty of Architecture of the Budapest University of Technology. In the last period of his life, he made documentaries, featuring unique buildings and interviews with their architects. The films reveal an exciting world, and the conversations shed light on the hidden secrets of the walls. Two of these works have been selected, including a surprise short film about Budapest in the 1940s.

In the discussion following the film, our guest will be János Golda, winner of the Ybl, Pro Architectura, and Príma awards.
