Next to our short film screening on the grand staircase of the ELTE University Library and Archives, an interactive exhibition has opened, showcasing the one-and-a-half-century history and unique episodes of the historic library palace.
The exhibition offers a glimpse into lesser-known details of the library’s rich history. You can discover who once lived within the institution’s walls and where, why we still use library cards today, how the library became Gyula Juhász’s muse, and even why Zsigmond Móricz never became a librarian.
The installations placed on both sides of the grand staircase evoke the exciting stories from the library’s “legendarium.” Using the QR codes associated with each display panel, visitors can access additional images, documents, and interesting facts, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of the building’s past and its hidden treasures.
