The University Library Service (ULS) carries out its work processes and tasks in a quality management system in connection with the ELTE's quality improvement programme.
The Quality Manager of the ULS contributes to the operation of the quality management system and ensures the implementation of the quality policy and quality objectives in the libraries of the network.
The Quality Management Handbook, which is the basic document for quality management in libraries, sets out quality policy and quality objectives in line with the current strategy. Its maintenance, updating, archiving in the repository for public access and making available of the copy approved by the Library Board is the responsibility of the Quality Manager of the ULS.
In the process of the self-evaluation of the ULS and the network's own activities and achievements, the ULS Quality Manager supports the planning, preparation, organisation and conduct of the self-evaluation, considering the network and professional context of the evaluation. The Quality Manager is involved in coordination tasks contributing to the proper conduct of the self-evaluation.
The ULS, as a network supporting university education and research, produces an annual quality improvement report. The document is adopted by the Library Council and then sent to the ELTE Quality Office. The document on the quality improvement activities and the measures taken to achieve the quality improvement objectives is prepared by the Quality Officer of the ULS based on the reports received from the member libraries.
The aim of the ULS is to ensure the satisfaction of all library users. In case of complaints about the services offered by any member library, all libraries of the ULS provide the possibility for library users to complain, and staff members can also report problems with the services. The ULS non-compliant services correction policy sets out the procedures for handling complaints, and the ULS Quality Officer prepares an annual report based on the reports received from member libraries. During the current year, the Quality Manager records, evaluates, monitors the repair and prevention activities, prepares an analysis and reports to the K21 Quality Management Coordination Committee at the first meeting following the end of the year based on the ULS annual Non-Compliant Services Report.
