Two hundred and fifty years ago, in 1773, Pope Clement XIII dissolved the Jesuit order, accelerating the process of the university's transfer to the state. Between 1635 and 1773, many distinguished Jesuits of great knowledge taught at our university, leaving a lasting mark on the history of the institution. In March our feature is on Ferenc Weiss, one of the founders of the Buda University Observatory and a pioneer of engineering education in Hungary.

The 2023 calendar of the ELTE University Library and Archives presents the Jesuit missions of the early modern period through some of the library's museum publications.
On the 1st of September 2022, the ELTE University Library and Archives organised the tenth conference entitled Traditions and Challenges. This year's programme included presentations on the themes of Preserve, Protect, Serve and Preservation Practices in Higher Education Libraries.
New volume, "Practices of Research Data Management: Established procedures and pilot projects" has been published by the Library and Information Centre of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and it is available online for free.

There have been personnel changes on the board of trustees of the Foundation for the University Library. Dr. Edit Madas academician, and Judit Osskó architect, were admitted to the Board of Trustees as new members.

The opening hours of the ELTE University Library and Archives will be changed from the 5th of December 2022. Our library will be open on weekdays between 9.00 and 15.00 to offer our readers a full range of services, on Saturdays our Reading Hall is available for study and reading. Borrowed books may be returned using our Bibliobox in the lobby until 18.00 on opening days. Thank you in advance for your understanding and supportive cooperation.
