During the session they will examine concrete examples of how weak or incomplete data structures can distort citation analysis, benchmarking, collaboration indicators, and performance assessments, and how structured approaches such as subject normalization and time-aware metrics help mitigate these risks.

This animated film, based on the most famous Hungarian folk tale, Fehérlófia (Son of the White Mare), and its variants found from the Far East to Austria, explores the theme of the eternal cycle. According to the legend, Fehérlófia (Son of the White Mare) – also known as Fanyűvő (Treeshaker) – is a boy born of a white mare, endowed with superhuman strength. The story is about the boy’s coming of age and initiation: he sets out on a journey to conquer the three-, seven-, and twelve-headed dragons that took over the world after the White Mare’s death, and to rescue three princesses – Autumn, Spring, and Summer Beauty – who have been captured by the dragons. Along the way, he befriends two other mighty men, Kőmorzsoló (Stonecrumbler) and Vasgyúró (Ironrubber), who both join him, and outwits the cunning old man who tempts the boys, Hétszűnyű Kapanyányi Monyók (Sevenwinged Skullsized Gnome).
In 1984, it was selected in Los Angeles as one of the 50 greatest animated films of all time.

The Hungarian Association of Higher Education Archives (MFLSZ) held its traditional annual conference from April 28 to 30, 2026, hosted by the ELTE ULA Savaria Library and Archives.
At the opening of the annual conference, welcoming remarks were delivered by MFLSZ President Zsolt Osváth; Nóra Lenkai, Rector’s Commissioner, representing the ELTE Savaria University Center; Dr. László Szende, Head of Department, representing the Ministry of Culture and Innovation; and Dr. Kulcsár Szabó Ernőné Gombos Annamária, Director General of the ELTE University Library and Archives.
Following the opening ceremony, a roundtable discussion was held on current issues in archival work, after which the professional program focused this year on cooperation among university public collections. Among the conference speakers, Dr. Rita Balla, museologist, and Dr. Krisztina Tóth, archivist, representing the ELTE University Library and Archives, gave a presentation titled The Museum Collection of the ELTE University Library and Archives within the University Public Collection System, during which the achieved results, best practices, and the joint coin catalog – a major milestone – were unveiled. The closing session focused on cooperation between university organisations and university public collections.
In addition to the conference, the program included the MFLSZ annual general meeting as well as exciting collection visits; attendees had the opportunity to visit the ELTE ULA Savaria Library and Archives, the Vas County Archives of the Hungarian National Archives, and the Szombathely Diocesan Library and Archives.
As part of the annual Carpathian Basin educational program, the Sustainability Theme Week and the Green Bridge Volunteer Expert Program, we welcomed groups of elementary and high school students to the green library presentations at the ELTE University Library and Archives between April 13 and 30, 2026.
The goal of the theme week and the Green Bridge volunteer expert program is to demonstrate the complexity of sustainability and to shape students’ perspectives through an interactive program. The collaboration platform provides schools with the opportunity to connect with organizations that are active in the fields of sustainability and innovation and possess real-world practical experience. Through authentic, real-life examples, environmental protection becomes tangible, while also supporting students in their career orientation. As part of the program series, all of our announced dates were fully booked immediately following their publication on the official website. A total of nearly 400 students from twelve public schools attended our tours. Based on the feedback, the children gained new knowledge and had many positive experiences, finding inspiration for environmental protection and lifelong learning.

Between the 28th and the 30th of April 2026, the ELTE EKL Savaria Library and Archives hosts the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Hungarian Association of Higher Education Archives.
The professional conference will focus on current issues facing higher education archives and university public collections, and will provide an opportunity for the exchange of experiences, professional dialogue, and the strengthening of collaborations.
The three-day event will bring together archivists from higher education institutions across the country, who will examine the profession’s most important challenges and achievements through lectures, discussions, and joint programs.
It is an honor for our institution to host this prestigious professional event.
During the Night of Museums our guided tours focus on the history of the University Library and Archives, Eötvös Loránd University.
The library palace was designed by Antal Szkalnitzky. Up-to-date technology of the time was used for ventilation, heating and illumination. The tour will take you through the entrance hall decorated with sgraffiti to the reading room with figures on its ceiling which symbolise sciences and arts. Besides the magnificent art and architecture of the library’s Reading Hall, you can also admire an oil-painting of the middle-aged Franz Joseph I. by Mór Than and the reconstruction of the Perczel Globe. Within the framework of the Night of Museums program series, calligrapher Dezső Buzogány will hold a workshop on the 20th of June 2026 between 15:00 and 24:00 in the hall of the ELTE University Library and Archives (1053 Budapest, Ferenciek tere 6.). Our guests are able to gain an insight into the art of calligraphy.
Calligraphy adds creative flair to correspondence, parties, decorations and art projects. Learn more about this ancient art that is still popular today in our workshop with Dezső Buzogány. The programme is a perfect introduction to the art of hand lettering, you will learn the fundamentals of modern calligraphy using a dip pen and ink. The ELTE–NFI FILMIO University Film Club screening and discussion series continues. We welcome university members from all ELTE faculties. In celebration of Mother’s Day and the upcoming Children’s Day, we warmly invite children and families to join us. (The film is recommended for ages 12 and up.)
A heartwarming, tear-jerking, laugh-out-loud family film that introduces viewers to the life of a sweet, slightly eccentric family through well-known actors, unique locations, and 21st-century visuals: Nina’s greatest dream is to become a writer – she inherited her creativity from her father, an animated film director. Her daily life is turned upside down by her clumsy magician younger brother, and since her mother (Rozi Lovas) died young, her somewhat strict aunt serves as the female role model in the family. When a new love enters her father’s life, Nina, following the guidance of a bohemian writer living next door, uses writing to process the loss of her mother and opens her heart to the new family member and her first love.
The film is based on Annet Huizing’s multi-award-winning novel How I Accidentally Wrote a Book, published in ten countries. The film won the Hungarian Film Award in 2025, the Special Prize for Feature Films at the 44th Hungarian Film Week, and the Grand Prize at the 28th Montreal International Children’s Film Festival.
